What We Believe
United Methodists share a common heritage with all Christians.
We confess belief in the triune God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We hold in common with all Christians a faith in the mystery of salvation in and through Jesus Christ. Through faith in Jesus we are forgiven and now have a personal relationship with God. We become heirs to eternal life (heaven).
We believe in the activity of the Holy Spirit, both in personal experience and in the community of believers. Through the Holy Spirit we are made a new person. We are transformed, changed, into a new creation. Each day as we learn to listen and obey God’s Spirit we are conformed more and more into the image of God. We become godly.
We believe that all persons should be baptized, as they have opportunity, and brought into membership of the church. The church is God’s gift to us so that we may live out our lives as followers of Jesus with others. We are not meant to be alone.
We believe that all members are encouraged to support the church through their prayers, presence (being here as able), gifts (financially as able), service (volunteer their time and talent as able), and witness (invite others to our church and to a relationship with Jesus).
We exist to make disciples (followers) of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
A transformed people empowered by the Holy Spirit going into the
world boldly professing God’s Word and showing the love of Jesus.
