How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation to Zion. Your God Reigns. Is.52:7
I just read in the New York Times that GM has decided to re-instate over 600 dealerships that it closed. This is good news. The persons who owned those dealerships and who were employed there worked hard and had been loyal and faithful workers. When the dealerships were closed it devastated many thousands of employees. The re-opening has cheered them greatly.
We all need to hear Good News, not only with work, but in our families, and community. The best news of all is that which God brings to us. In this passage, it was announced to Israel that the Lord was sending a Savior to forgive them of their sins, and to free them from their captivity. God also declares that He wants to bless us and to give us all hope in difficult circumstances, through our Savior Jesus Christ.
When we are going through difficult circumstances, we need to ask God how He desires to send us Good News. Sometimes we can’t seem to find it anywhere. But if we claim this promise He will show us. The Good News might be in the form of someone who can help us with a task or give us understanding. It may be in the restoration of a broken relationship. God may speak to our heart that a new opportunity lies ahead, that we do not know about.
Jesus Christ of course is the herald of Good News. Like the blue-bird that comes as a sign of Spring, Christ comes to help us as a sign of the Father’s love. Look for Good News Today. You may be surprised by how much you find. JDL
