Chicken BBQ & Silent Auction

BBQ_chicken (1)Come and enjoy some good ol’ barbique chicken. It will be held on September 12 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center. The whole meal which includes coslaw, a roll, and a lot of tasty chicken only costs $8 for adults and childen under five eat for free.

At the same time, the United Methodist Women will be holding a silent auction. Don’t miss out!.

Our Sunday school leaders came up with this idea for our kickoff to use Signs of God. When you are driving down the highway you observe more signs then you can absorb, especially in a metropolitan area.  There a signs for stores, billboard advertisements, streets signs, and of course traffic signs.  A person traveling could get so wrapped in the advertisements, that they might miss the directional signs, like stop, yield, no left hand turn and get in an accident.  In the same way you can miss the directions and guidelines God has for your life because you are so wrapped up in other signs that are less important.

When you came in this morning you saw signs that said stop, children praying, one way to God, and God at work. We wanted you to think about how God has some very important signs and directions for you through the Bible.  In this kick-off we want you to think about the power that is in the Word of God.  The Sunday school is  a great place to get directions from the Lord.  There is great fellowship, good sharing and some really wonderful teachers.  Last year I sat in on some classes, and was so impressed by the depth, the sensitivity and deep learning.  I hope that everyone here will consider being in a class.  We are so committed to this that as we have said in the past… Read the rest of this entry »
